Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often from prospective clients.
Who do you typically work with?
Our clients range from owner-operated businesses to private equity-backed companies in the lower middle market. What they have in common: they are at an inflection point — growing, transitioning, preparing for a transaction, or navigating complexity — and they need financial and strategic expertise they don't have in-house.
What does "CFO+" mean?
The CFO+ methodology goes beyond traditional financial management. In addition to financial oversight, it integrates strategy, operations, talent, and organizational development. The difference between someone who manages your numbers and someone who helps you build the business.
Do you work on a retainer or project basis?
Both, depending on what fits your situation. Many engagements are project-based with a defined scope and deliverables. Others involve ongoing advisory support. We'll recommend the structure that makes the most sense after our initial consultation.
What does the free consultation include?
A straight conversation about your business — where you are, where you're trying to go, and what's getting in the way. No pitch, no pressure. At the end of it, you'll have a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit and what an engagement might look like.
What industries do you serve?
We have worked across technology, healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, construction, and professional services. The CFO+ approach is industry-agnostic — the fundamentals of financial clarity, organizational health, and competitive positioning apply across sectors.
How do your assessments work?
Most engagements begin with our Operational & Financial Stability Assessment — a structured evaluation of 25 key indicators across governance, finance, operations, compliance, and culture. This gives us — and you — a clear baseline and a prioritized starting point. From there, we scope the engagement around what the business actually needs.
How long do engagements typically last?
It depends on the scope. A Strategic Finance Assessment might be completed in a few days. A full strategic planning engagement or financial model build typically runs four to eight weeks. We scope the timeline clearly upfront so there are no surprises.
What is your fiduciary commitment?
We operate as fiduciaries — meaning our recommendations are always made in your best interest, not ours. There is no incentive for us to extend engagements, recommend services you don't need, or steer you toward any outcome other than the right one for your business.
